Ivrea Carnevale
Ivrea is a town located approx. 40 miles north of Turin.

For a festival that is a little out-of-the-ordinary, go to the Piedmont region of Italy, near Turin, for the Ivrea Carnival. It is a 3-day orange-fight that involves the whole town, including a bonfire in the main square.

There are various “safe areas” from where you can observe the pandemonium. Beware if you venture from the “safe area”, then you may find yourself becoming a target.

The orange fights and celebrations starts on Saturday, and goes through Tuesday. Then on Ash Wednesday, the costumes come off and polenta and baccala, or cod, is served in the main square.

Below is a video of the pandemonium!
