May 1, is a public holiday all over Italy.  It is International Worker's Day, and many stores, services, etc. will be closed but you may find interesting parades and festivals to celebrate the day. The popular Italian tourist destinations will draw big crowds.

What:  International Workers' Day
When: 1 May(annual) / Primo di Maggio
Where: Piazza San Giovanni
Cost: Free! / Gratis!
Hours: 2pm-11pm

Ever since 1989, Rome celebrates the arrival of Spring with a world-famous music festival.
Some of the most famous musicians in the world will perform at this event.

The lineup is usually announced days before the event.
