Italy is famous for its chestnut festivals during October.
One of the more famous ones takes place in Aritzo (Nuoro), right in the heart of the island of Sardinia.
Aritzo is famous for the production of chestnuts and walnuts. Every year visitors are offered chestnuts from traditional baskets. The chestnuts can be tasted fresh, roasted, boiled and can be used as ingredients in other dishes.
The festival is full of art exhibitions, processions, music, street theatre and cooking demonstrations.
