Festa di Santa Barbara - Feast of Saint Barbara

Paterno' is a town with approximately 50,000 people on the slopes of the volcanic Mount Etna.  Saint Barbara is the patron saint of firemen (firefighters in Italy) and firework makers.  She was called upon many times to protect against Mount Etna's eruptions, fires, storms and even the bubonic plague.

A tradition since the 1600's, today the feast is celebrated with a parade along with fireworks and a nativity scene.

Location : Paterno', Sicily
