Who was Padre Pio?

Saint Pio (Pius) of Pietrelcina (1887 – 1968) was a Capuchin Catholic priest from Italy born Francesco Forgione. He was later given the name Pius after he joined the Capuchins. Pius in Italian is Pio. He was canonized on June 16, 2002 by Pope John Paul II.
