A carpet of flowers that highlights the one of the most true and oldest traditions in Bolsena.  It is a celebration of the miracle of the Eucharist, celebrated by Catholics all over the world.  Legend has it that a priest, while celebrating mass in 1263, had blood from the bread of the host spill out into his hands and all over the altar.  Pope Urban IV then declared it a miracle, and the blood-stained cloth can still be seen to this day in the Cathedral of Orivieto.

From that point onward, the town celebrates the miracle with a 3-km long flowering of the streets with different types of flowers. (see picture below)

FESTA DEL CORPUS DOMINI LE INFIORATE

Un tappeto che ti affascina e ti mostra le nostre tradizioni più vere Bolsena si veste di un tappeto di fiori. La ricorrenza, celebrata in tutto il mondo cattolico, rievoca il miracolo dell' Eucarestia, tramutatasi in corpo e sangue di Cristo fra le mani di un sacerdote durante una messa celebrata nella Basilica di Bolsena. Da allora il paese ricorda il prodigio con la realizzazione di infiorate artistiche che attraversano il paese lungo un percorso di tre chilometri. Ginestra, garofani, rose, crisantemine: migliaia i fiori impiegati per l'allestimento e centinaia gli infioratori che partecipano ai lavori.
