New article on Venice

I just posted a new page in the "Places" menu above for Venice, the fairy tale city.

Here are some interesting facts about the gondola, long known as one of the iconic symbols of this great city:
  • The typical gondola is a little over 33 feet (11 meters) long and weighs over 1300 pounds (600kg).
  • There are only 3 - 4 new gondola licenses issued every year.
  • Being a gondolier in Venice is an exclusive club - The total number of gondolier licenses that exist number about 400.
  • Typical gondola fares cost €80 for 40 minutes or about €100 for an hour, although can vary dramatically based on season, time of day, etc.
  • You can take a gondola ride accross the Grand Canal for approx 10-15 Euros.
