Italians are very passionate about their soccer or "calcio", as it is part of their tradition and culture and has been for many years. And finally, after much anticipation, the soccer season is about to get underway.
Here is the schedule the Serie A professional Italian soccer league for the 2011-2012 season. Note, because of the player strike, the games for the first week will be rescheduled at a later point. Yes, just as we saw in the United States NFL, billionaires can have disputes with millionaires.
The schedule is in Excel so you can sort and filter by date, team, etc.
It is on my Skydrive account - here is the link for the Serie A 2011-2012 soccer schedule.

The four best Italian churches
|
Florence Duomo |
Italy is a country known for its great natural beauty. It is also known for some great architectural beauty, some of which dates back many centuries. Much of the great architecture includes some outstanding churches and cathedrals. Many of their most famous artists and architects have been involved creating these magnificent works of art. In fact, there was often a competition between cities and towns of who had the more beautiful church. The history of the Catholic Church and the history of Italy are very much inter-twined. A visit to Italy should include visiting some of their many magnificent churches.
Here are the four best churches (out of a possible list of thousands) in Italy to see, all with a somewhat different and unique architectural style:
St. Peter's Basilica - the most famous church in the country (perhaps even in the world) as it is the symbol of the Catholic Church. Inside are many unique treasures including the Pieta' by Michelangelo.
Florence's Duomo - Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore - the red-tiled gothic-style dome that is the symbol of Florence, was started in 1296 and completed in 1436. The cathedral complex (Piazza del Duomo) actually includes a Baptistry of St. John and a belltower by Giotto. (Campanile di Giotto).
Basilica di San Marco – a classic example of eastern and Byzantine architecture, was built in 829 AD to house the remains of San Marco, the city’s patron saint. It is adjacent to Doge’s Palace, and overlooks the famous Piazza San Marco.
Milan's Duomo - another gothic style church that has a very idyllic resemblance to a sand-castle. It is the second largest Catholic cathedral in the world (second to Seville’s) and can easily accommodate 40,000 people! It was started in 1386 and completed in the 1800’s. It is a symbol of the city of Milan, and a cultural centerpiece of the city.
